The Order of Distinguished Auxiliary Service was given to Mike Cassling to mark the culmination of his three-year tenure as Chair of the National Advisory Board. The honor represents a fitting capstone to a dedicated record of service dating back more than 20 years.
Omaha, Nebraska (October 30, 2023) – The Salvation Army has honored Mike Cassling, Chairman of CQuence Health, with the highest mark of appreciation available to non-Salvationists.
Mike Cassling received the Order of Distinguished Auxiliary Service in September 2023 at the organization’s National Advisory Board meeting. It came as Cassling closed out his three-year tenure as the Chair of the National Advisory Board and was given in recognition of the more than two decades Cassling has helped further the mission of The Salvation Army.
“Mike has been a true leader in every sense of the word on the National Advisory Board,” said Dale Bannon, DEL, National Community Relations & Development Secretary Director at The Salvation Army National Headquarters. “The systems he has put in place during his tenure have made the board more effective and will impact its contribution to The Salvation Army for years to come.”
Cassling began serving The Salvation Army in 2002. He was instrumental in the launch of the organization’s William Booth Society of high-dollar donors and, along with his wife Elizabeth, has been the chair of the D.J.’s Hero Awards program in Omaha. That program’s scholarships and support of community programs in Nebraska have helped hundreds of teenagers get the financial backing they need to thrive in college and become an integral part of their local communities.
He took office as Chair of the National Advisory Board in 2021 during the pandemic. In that position, he led the organization through the challenge of working in and adapting to a virtual environment. “He also restructured meetings to enable more flexibility and strategic problem-solving, all while continuing to push forward The Salvation Army’s mission and increase its impact," said Bannon.
“It’s an honor to receive this award from an organization that I have the utmost respect and admiration for,” said Mike Cassling. “The Salvation Army is changing lives throughout the world, and I feel blessed to play a role in the good they do. Even though my three-year tenure as Chair is up, I look forward to continuing to support the organization in as many ways as possible, hoping to give to them the same dedication they give to so many others throughout the world.”
Cassling is Chairman of CQuence Health (CQ), which has spent decades supporting various Salvation Army initiatives. The Angel Tree, Adopt-A-Family program, Tree of Lights campaign and Red Kettle campaign are examples of things CQ and its employees have participated in over the years. In 2022, the company also provided donation matches up to $25,000 during The Salvation Army’s Corporate Red Kettle Challenge.
