Curious, observant and nimble are qualities you might expect in a cat, yet they also perfectly describe CQuence’s Director of People and Culture, Kayla Engel, which is fitting given her well-known love of cats.
For 20 years, Kayla has enriched the culture of CQuence and Cassling with her uncanny ability to spot challenges before they arise, then take things a step further to find and implement solutions. But her real superpower: how she makes people feel. Kayla’s support for our teams extends beyond the company walls into the families of our employees, as noted by Bruce Stec, Vice President of People and Culture:
"Kayla is one of the most committed team members we have in this company,” said Bruce. “Not only do those of us who work with her know this, but chances are your family and significant others do as well. Her quick wit and extensive experience add value to any meeting. Kayla and I joke that weird things in our lives seem to happen in pairs, and that’s because we’ve often had to lean on each other during difficult times. I couldn’t be luckier to have Kayla on my team."
“Kayla lives out our culture every single day,” said Tayler Metzger, Business Partner. “She is the epitome of somebody who provides world-class customer service to our employees and portfolio companies. I've been lucky to learn so much from her. She is truly an asset to our team and company!”
Her dedication to culture and service is echoed by others who know her well.
“It’s hard to put into words how much of a difference Kayla has made,” said Tana
Phelps, Vice President of Marketing. “Her customer service, humility and selflessness set such a powerful example of living our culture, and the way she goes above and beyond for our employees is inspiring. In many ways, Kayla represents the heart of our culture. Congratulations and thank you for everything you’ve done (and continue to do) to make this such a special place.”

“Kayla’s commitment to her Cassling and CQuence family, I believe, is truly unsurpassed,” said Ed Holub, Cassling Regional Service Manager. “She is a significant foundational piece of our culture. Kayla, congratulations on your 20th anniversary. The smile you enter every room with can never compare to the one everyone has following their interaction with you.”
“Kayla is truly someone who represents the Cassling and CQuence culture in the best
way,” said Shawn Pew, Cassling Vice President of Service. “Kayla has played many roles over the years: Director of P&C, mentor, therapist, healthcare advocate, benefits representative, accountant, the list goes on. She juggles multiple projects with remarkable skill and always delivers the highest quality outcome. Many may not know she’s affectionately called ‘The Cat Lady,’ so if she says, ‘I need to take care of my kiddos,’ she’s probably talking about her foster kittens! Kayla has a huge heart and is always ready to help anyone, anytime. We are incredibly lucky to have her, and I’m grateful for everything she does and for her friendship."

“Congratulations, Kayla, on reaching your 20th work anniversary!” said Randy Wobig, Chief Information Officer. “I’ve had the privilege of witnessing and benefiting from your incredible knowledge, advice and dedication to our entire organization. Your commitment to excellence and your willingness to go above and beyond in every task never cease to amaze me. Your passion for your work and your fun-loving spirit truly make you an extremely valued person. We're very lucky to have you!”
While cats are often linked with superstition and bad luck, having Kayla Engel on the CQuence team has been nothing but purrre luck. Congratulations on this remarkable milestone, and thank you for everything you’ve done to care for our people and our culture (and cats)!
