Omaha, Neb: CQuence Health Group recently received the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) Gold award for workplace wellness. This is the fifth time CQuence has been recognized by WELCOA; the previous award, Platinum, was received in 2011.
“Since beginning our wellness program in 2000, our vision has always been to make this effort an integral part of our culture, not just another benefit,” said CQuence President and CEO Mike Cassling.
WELCOA describes the Gold award as “[recognition of] companies that have successfully built comprehensive worksite wellness initiatives and are demonstrating and documenting concrete outcomes.” The WELCOA application process uses seven key benchmarks for results-oriented workplace wellness programs: capturing Chief Executive Officer support; creating cohesive wellness teams; collecting data to drive health efforts; carefully crafting an operations plan; choosing appropriate interventions; creating a supportive environment; and, carefully evaluating outcomes.
“Our companies have worked diligently to reinforce programming that protects and enhances the health and well-being of our employees and their families,” said CQuence Vice President of Human Resources Bruce Stec. “We are extremely proud to be among the ranks of America’s Healthiest Companies again this year, and we will continue to consistently evaluate and support wellness initiatives for our employees.”
“Although this choice increases our programming costs, we believe targeting families is the best solution,” Cassling said. “If we encourage healthy behaviors at work and assist our employees in reinforcing healthy behaviors at home, we will dramatically increase the likelihood of community-wide change.”
In addition to helping improve wellness-related behavior, CQuence identifies its program as an integral tool in recruiting and retaining the best employees. CQuence companies have earned the highest ranking possible in its employee survey process, and participants frequently cite wellness as a key driver in their workplace satisfaction.
